The WVU Brad and Alys Smith Outdoor Economic Development Collaborative has secured a $1,232,256 grant from the Appalachian Regional Commission with an additional $536,155 in match from local partners — totaling $1,768,411. The funding will be used to launch the West Virginia Community-driven Outdoor Recreation Economies Initiative, a strategic suite of programs designed to expand the state’s outdoor recreation economy and strengthen its local communities.
Since kicking off the 2024 WVU United Way Campaign on Oct. 7, nearly $66,000 has been raised thanks to the generosity of the campus community, including retirees.

The WVU Child Learning Center has opened its enrollment for infants, pre-kindergarten and drop-in care. Located in Krepps Park near the Evansdale area of campus, the site offers families flexible drop-off and pick-up times.
