As the fall semester gets underway, students from the Statler College are reflecting on the opportunities that took them around the globe this summer. Through internships, fellowships and work experiences, these students gained a wealth of knowledge that will guide them into their future careers.

Concepcion Gaxiola, executive director of Advancing Girls' Education in Africa, will discuss the learning crisis faced in Malawi and globally and how her organization is working to address the educational needs and develop the leadership potentials of young women in Malawi on Friday (Aug. 31) at 11:30 a.m. in the Mountainlair's Greenbrier Room.
The subject of this month’s presentation is Vera Klement’s Rose Garden and the presenter will be Bernie Schultz. Schultz will give a short talk exploring these elements, beginning at 12:20 p.m. in the Art Museum’s McGee Gallery. Prior to the talk, all are invited to bring a brown-bag lunch to the Museum Education Center Grand Hall at noon to converse with Schultz, Museum staff and fellow museum-goers as they enjoy their midday meal. The session will end by 1 p.m., for those who need to get back to their offices.
Recognized for its virtuosity, exuberant performance style, and often-daring repertory choices, over the past two decades the Pacifica Quartet has achieved international recognition as one of the finest chamber ensembles performing today. They will bring their talents to Morgantown for a performance on Sept. 6.
Matthew Titolo, a professor at the College of Law, has been awarded a Fulbright Senior Scholar grant for the spring 2019 semester. As a Fulbright Senior Scholar, Titolo will teach and study at the University de La Laguna in Tenerife, Spain, focusing on international commercial law and European Union law.
