Initiated and established in 1993 to acknowledge Betty Livengood’s lifelong commitment to education and love of teaching, the historical scholarship has now been formally recognized by the WVU Foundation as an established scholarship, supported by the Livengood family’s commitment to ensure it continues in perpetuity.

WVU Tech Summer Visit Day will give prospective students and families an opportunity to see campus firsthand, learn more about the admissions process and get answers to their questions about college life from 10 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Friday, Aug. 1.

Coats died recently at his home in Florida after a long and storied career at the University that began in 1971. He served in many different roles including professor of accounting, director of graduate programs and undergraduate programs, associate dean for academic affairs, and dean of the John Chambers College of Business and Economics.
