The LaunchLab Network will host guest speaker, Matt Nelson, owner of WeRateDog, who will speak about his Start-up Success Story. Sponsored by the WVU Women’s Business Center, Nelson will be in Morgantown Thursday (Sept. 27) from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. in the WVU Alumni Center.

Environmental Health and Safety will offer safety training during October. Discussion topics will be fire safety and egress, including fire extinguisher inspections and emergencies. Various sessions will include guest speakers from WVU Fire Service Extension.

The Carruth Center for Psychological and Psychiatric Services will recognize National Suicide Prevention Month at the Mountainlair. Stop by and see us Tuesday (Sept. 25) from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. outside of the Mountainlair at our Suicide Awareness Table.

In this talk, Shaun Gabiddon will examine racial profiling that occurs in retail establishments. Currently referred to as “shopping while Black,” this discriminatory practice has a long history in the United States. Tracing its origins to the slave-era “Black-thief” stereotype, the research examines the nature, extent and current forms of the practice in modern day America.
