The Office of Sustainability will host its second book recycling collection for 2022 the week of July 11. The deadline to request a pickup is Wednesday, July 6. Faculty and staff are encouraged to participate in this biannual book recycling program, which is designed to help colleges, departments and units recycle unwanted paper items from their offices and storage rooms.

Core Arboretum  

Tomorrow’s speaker is Zach Fowler, director of the WVU Core Arboretum and service associate professor with the WVU Department of Biology. His talk, titled “There is no place like home? The Eastern Asian-Eastern North American floristic disjunction,” will focus on the interesting fact that there are several plant species that are native only to Eastern North America with closest “relatives” that are native only to Eastern Asia.

Coopers Rock Overlook  

WVU recently hosted a group of international high school counselors through the Collegey's Global Education Program. Coordinated by the Office of Admissions, the June 19 visit included a breakfast and presentation at Erickson Alumni Center, a campus tour and a visit to Coopers Rock State Forest. The 2022 cohort represents India, Singapore, Mauritius and the United Arab Emirates.

Mary Roush 2022-23 Mountaineer Mascot  

The WVU Mountaineer Mascot Program will hold a blood drive in conjunction with the American Red Cross Monday, June 27, from 1-6 p.m. in the Nutting Gallery of the WVU Erickson Alumni Center.

The Osher Lifelong Learning Institute at WVU is seeking volunteer instructors and presenters for its fall 2022 term, which runs Oct. 2 through Dec. 3. Designed for older adults, OLLI offers short, non-credit classes without grading or testing in a variety of subjects.
