Lumber Wood Brand  

The Office of Sustainability, the Davis College of Agriculture, Natural Resources and Design and the WVU Tree Campus USA committee are partnering to host WVU’s second annual lumber sale from 5-7 p.m. Friday, July 22, in the event tent outside the WVU Creative Arts Center, 1 Fine Arts Drive. The sale is cash only and all proceeds will support continued tree planting and maintenance on campus.

The deadline to request a pickup is today (July 6) for the Office of Sustainability’s second book recycling collection for 2022. This book recycling program is designed to help colleges, departments and units recycle unwanted paper items from their offices and storage rooms.

As part of our commitment to foster a safe environment for our campus community, the West Virginia University Police Department will hold on-campus training exercises for its officers beginning today (July 5). The immediate areas surrounding the Arnold Hall Annex and Apartments will be secured and available only to responders and authorized personnel during the exercises.

Core Arboretum  

The WVU community is welcome to attend a Nature Connection Series talk at the Core Arboretum’s woodland amphitheater today (July 5) at 6 p.m. This week's speaker is Dave Samuel, professor emeritus of wildlife at the WVU Division of Forestry and Natural Resources, and his talk is titled “Whitetail Deer in West Virginia: History, Management, Economics and Problems.”

Nora MacDonald, Davis College of Agriculture, Natural Resources, and Design, will speak to the WVU retired faculty and staff tomorrow (July 6) at 2:30 p.m. This hybrid presentation titled “Dress and Aging” will be held in person at OLLI in Classroom B and on Zoom, followed by a Q&A session.

WVU and WVU Research Corporation benefits-eligible employees can schedule an individual in-person consultation to discuss their personal financial situation with an experienced TIAA financial consultant on a confidential basis. In-person opportunities are available on campus on various dates in July. Virtual sessions are also still available.
