The Osher Lifelong Learning Institute at WVU will host instrument petting zoos in preparation for the return of the Mon River New Horizons Band this fall.
A member of the New Horizons International Music Association, the Mon River New Horizons Band offers older adults opportunities to learn to play musical instruments and explore the joy of making music. No experience is necessary and musicians of all skill levels are welcome.
The band will meet on Monday afternoons from 3:30-5 p.m. beginning Oct. 3 at the Mountaineer Mall on Green Bag. OLLI membership is required for participation after the beginner class.
The instrument petting zoos will be held Tuesday, Aug. 23 and 30, 11:15 a.m. to 1 p.m., and beginner class will be offered on Monday, Sept. 12 and 19, from 3:30-5 p.m. at the Mountaineer Mall.
Petting zoo participants will meet the new band directors, Justin McCrary and Ryan Kerwin, try out different musical instruments and learn how they can join OLLI’s Mon River New Horizons Band.
These events are free and open to the public and registration is required.
Register online or call the OLLI office at 304-293-1793.
