Junior JJ Wetherholt with the baseball team was named the Hardman Award winner, which goes to the state's top amateur athlete, as voted by the West Virginia Sports Writers Association. Wetherholt will be honored at the 77th annual Victory Awards Dinner May 5 in Wheeling.
Leonard Perroots was a Morgantown native and 1955 University graduate with a bachelor's degree in history. His Mountaineer baseball career included two seasons pitching for legendary coach Steve Harrick in 1953 and 1954. After that, Perroots received his commission through the Reserve Officers' Training Corps program and entered the U.S. Air Force as an intelligence officer.
The No. 22 baseball team is back at Kendrick Family Ballpark today (April 16) for the first edition of the Backyard Brawl this season. First pitch against Pitt is set for 6:30 p.m.
This May, the Coaches Caravan will travel across the state and beyond, stopping in Wheeling, Martinsburg, Parkersburg, Glade Springs, Manassas, Virginia, and Charlotte, North Carolina. Tickets are now available for all stops.
The 2024 slate features 11 home matches at Dick Dlesk Soccer Stadium in Morgantown, including five Big 12 Conference contests. The 2024 campaign officially kicks off at home against first-time opponent Delaware on Aug. 15.
