WVU Medicine Fairmont will expand to include cardiology services previously offered at Fairmont Regional Medical Center through the WVU Heart and Vascular Institute. The WVU HVI clinic at Fairmont Regional Medical Center is closing and will see its last patients today (Feb. 28). Patients will be seen at WVU Medicine Fairmont starting Monday (March 2).
The Office of Interprofessional Education will host an event focused on substance use disorder and the associated stigma on March 23 as part of a year-long interprofessional education curriculum for students at the Health Sciences Center.
These groups are designed for caregivers and their typically developing children, children with cognitive or developmental disabilities, children with physical disabilities, children with sensory disabilities, children with neurologic disabilities and other therapists/healthcare practitioners.
The first of this five-session sequence will give an overview of implicit bias and demonstrate how even those with the best of intentions can allow inherent assumptions to cloud their judgement.
Dr. Thomas Mauger, who leads the WVU Eye Institute and is the chair for the Department of Ophthalmology and Visual Sciences, has agreed to take on an additional role at WVU Medicine, serving as the associate chief medical officer for ambulatory care.
