Honors EXCEL encourages students to take a deep dive into passion projects. The college will provide funding, mentorship, and coursework to help them succeed. Any sophomore student—not just current Honors students—who has a 3.4 GPA can apply.

Evansdale Library will host an exhibit by students and faculty in Fashion, Dress & Merchandising in the Davis College that showcases fashions and fashion design drawings exploring contemporary issues and sustainable practices. The exhibit will be on display Jan. 24 - May 15.
Electra Paskett will join the WVU School of Public Health’s 2018-2019 Dean’s Colloquium Series Feb. 1. Her lecture, “A Multi-Level Model to Address Cervical Cancer Disparities in Appalachia,” will be held in 1175 Health Sciences Center-North (Okey Patteson Auditorium) from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. The event is free and open to the public. For those who cannot attend, a live webcast will be available online.
Bingyun Li from WVU Orthopaedics has been selected as part of a team to receive an Interdisciplinary Translational Project Team award from the Center for Dental, Oral, Craniofacial Tissue and Organ Regeneration. The project is about 3D-printed nanoclay enhanced biomaterials.
Each student will receive a $1,000 award: $500 from the Eberly College and $500 from the NASA West Virginia Space Grant Consortium. The recipients are Erica Chwalik, Dillion Cottrill, Ryan Culp, Brenden Glover, Janna Kleinsasser, Maxwell Reese, Simon Wirth and Olivia Young.
The University of Akron has announced that the 2019 Great America Rifle Conference Championships will be held Feb. 22-23 at the Stile Athletics Field House in Akron, Ohio. Competition on both days will begin at 8:15 a.m.
