Honors College Launching 2+2 Program

Colleges feature default thumbnail

With record-setting enrollment, the Honors College will begin the next chapter of serving high-achieving students with the launch of a new upper division program. In Fall 2017, students were accepted into a new two-year Honors Foundations program. This fall, Honors will start the Honors Experiential Learning and Community Engaged program. Unlike the Foundations program which focuses on coursework, Honors EXCEL encourages students to take a deep dive into passion projects. The college will provide funding, mentorship, and coursework to help them succeed. Any sophomore student—not just current Honors students—who has a 3.4 GPA can apply. Students with less than 3.4 may apply with the recommendation of a faculty member. Projects may focus on research, internships, creative work, study abroad or community engagement. Student creativity is encouraged and there is a list of inspiration projects on the website. Applications for the fall program will be open Feb. 1 to April 1. For information, contact Dana Huebert Lima, program director, at HonorsEXCEL@mail.wvu.edu.
