This week, diners at Café Evansdale and Hatfields will be able to taste the flavors of Germany thanks to a visit from Global Chef Marcel Pohle. Pohle, from Germany, is spending a one-month residency in the U.S. through the Global Chef Program, and is visiting WVU this week. He has assisted WVU Dining Services in creating an authentic German menu, which will be featured for dinner from 4:30-6:30 p.m. Thursday (Feb. 14) at Café Evansdale, and for lunch from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Friday (Feb. 15 )at Hatfields.

The Council for Women's Concerns is accepting nominations for the Mary Catherine Buswell Award. This accolade honors a person who has shown a dedication to the advancement of women and will award $1,000 for travel, supplies, salary supplement or any other use commensurate with WVU policies. March 1 is the deadline.
Miracle League Baseball removes barriers that can keep people with disabilities form enjoying baseball. Game play is on a rubberized surface that accommodates wheelchairs and other assistive devices while helping prevent falls and injuries. The season runs from the end of April through the end of July. Many volunteers are needed to help make the season run smoothly and to ensure everyone is having fun.
Kyle Gillis and James Carnes, seniors in the Benjamin M. Statler College of Engineering and Mineral Resources representing the LaunchLab, won first prize for their company, ICONIC EDU LLC, which is an EdTech company that develops technology-focused STEM kits that help students begin thinking more like scientists and engineers.
The Mountaineer Racing team recently received a $30,000 award from the DENSO North America Foundation in support of the development of an engine dynamometer testing facility. The facility will be used to test and tune the team’s racing engines.
Artist Peter Saul’s recent paintings, Man with Secret, 2016, and Buddy, 2018, will be the focus of the next Art Up Close! at the Museum Education Center Feb. 20.
