As a high school junior, Howard Ticker combined his passion for sports with an interest in business to guide his college selection process. Growing up, he had followed Mountaineer football, paying special attention to the Pat White Era, (former WVU quarterback who played all four seasons, 2005-2008, with the Mountaineers, becoming the first QB to finish 4-0 in bowl games, including two BCS wins in the 2006 Sugar and 2008 Fiesta Bowls).
Major League Baseball’s opening day may be a few weeks away, but Jedd Gyorko, former WVU baseball player and current third baseman for the St. Louis Cardinals, and his family have already hit a homerun for WVU Medicine Children’s with a $100,000 donation to the hospital’s Capital Campaign.
A new 155-bed, nine-story WVU Children’s Hospital and women’s pavilion is scheduled for completion in 2020.
Maya Nye, a Public Health graduate student at WVU, is participating in the upcoming “Women & Water in West Virginia” exhibit at the Downtown Campus Library. Launching in March in conjunction with Women’s History Month, the event is part of the WVU Art in the Libraries’ ongoing WATER exhibit, a cross-disciplinary, multimedia project examining the power and impact of water in various forms.
