Open Enrollment for Plan Year 2025 begins for benefits-eligible employees

Woodburn campus

The Open Enrollment period for Plan Year 2025 for West Virginia University benefits-eligible faculty and staff begins today (April 2) and will run through Wednesday, May 15.

Open Enrollment is your only opportunity to make changes to your elected insurance benefits for the plan year without a qualifying life event. All changes for Plan Year 2025 will be effective July 1.

Employees are encouraged to review their current coverage, evaluate their benefit needs, learn what’s new for Plan Year 2025, and make changes or additions to their benefits. This is a changes-only enrollment. If you do not make any changes, your current benefits will be carried over to the new plan year.

For your convenience, here are some resources you may find helpful:

  • WVU Open Enrollment – Visit the WVU Benefits website to learn more about how to navigate the open enrollment process, whether you need to make changes or not. Here you will find important reminders and information, learn about all the WVU benefits offered to you and your family, new benefits for this plan year, instructions on making changes and much more.

  • PEIA Open Enrollment Benefit Fairs – Find dates, times and locations for in-person sessions hosted in various cities across West Virginia beginning April 10 through May 2. Employees are welcome to attend one of these events and speak with representatives of the PEIA PPB Plans, The Health Plan, MetLife, Humana and Mountaineer Flexible Benefits. Two virtual sessions are also available.
