To assist West Virginia University leadership in assessing potential cost savings for Fiscal Year 2024 and beyond, the Division of Talent and Culture is encouraging all faculty and staff who are planning to retire in the near future to consider making their intentions known.

While not required, voluntarily sharing plans to retire will help University leadership with budget forecasting and other transformational efforts, as well as potential succession planning within a college, division or unit.

Those who plan to retire from WVU between now and Dec. 31, 2024, are encouraged to contact WVU Benefits Strategy at 304-293-8405 or CentralBA@mail.wvu.edu to discuss retirement options and receive assistance with retirement planning.

The Benefits Strategy team will work with the faculty and staff member to prepare the necessary paperwork, including a commitment to retire agreement, to support employees as they begin their transition toward retirement.

Once the agreement is completed and a retirement date has been identified, information related to the employee’s intention to retire will be shared with their dean or division/unit leader via their respective HR Partner.

Note: It will remain the faculty or staff member’s responsibility to notify their supervisor of any retirement plans.

Employees should visit the Talent and Culture website for more information and retirement planning resources.

Faculty and staff should contact Benefits Strategy at 304-293-8405 or CentralBA@mail.wvu.edu with any questions. Employees also may contact their HR Partner.
