Office of Accessibility Services launches new website

Accessibility Services

In line with its mission to enhance educational opportunities for all students with disabilities, the WVU Office of Accessibility Services has redesigned its website, accessibilityservices.wvu.edu, to provide more information in a user-friendly layout.

Visitors will find details about a variety of disability-related topics, including:

  • The accommodation process at WVU, including student and faculty testimonials, University policies, laws and regulations, confidentiality standards and information on disability as a dimension of diversity;

  • Vanguard programs such as the Autism Support Program, Transcriber Mentorship Program, Work-Study Captioning Unit, MindFit and OAS’s new Accessibility Student Advisory Group;

  • OAS services units, including OAS’s Captioning and Interpreting Team, Assistive Technology Unit and the Accessibility Services Testing Center.

  • Public events and accessibility including vendor lists, closed captioning standards and a useful public accessibility flowchart;

  • Student resources including important announcements, OAS events calendar, campus and community contacts, scholarship opportunities, student and parent FAQs and more.

  • Faculty resources, including course content guidelines, information on how to refer students to OAS, a syllabus inclusivity statement, faculty FAQs and more.

This new site is part of the OAS strategic plan to promote accessibility campuswide.

The student and faculty resource pages and other new sections are designed to promote engagement, help answer common questions, provide useful information about how to implement accommodations in the classroom and direct users toward the various resources available through OAS.

Over time, OAS looks forward to expanding its library of digital resources with white papers, videos and training materials that support accommodation implementation and foster an inclusive learning environment for all Mountaineers.
