The WVU Country Roads program is designed to prepare students with disabilities for independence by providing structured academic courses, social engagement and real-world work experiences.
Students live in shared residential housing on campus, participate in various social activities and receive career education and training.
One of the essential parts of the program is to help students explore careers as well as to learn soft and hard skills to use for future employment.
In order to do this, they are required to rotate through many job shadowing experiences as well as eventually identify fields of interest to look at for long-term employment.
If your organization or department has opportunities for any of the 10 currently enrolled students in the program, contact Kayla Richard, curriculum coordinator, at kayla.richard@hsc.wvu.edu or at 304-293-4692.
