The West Virginia University Collegiate Recovery Program will expand resources for students in recovery thanks to a grant from the West Virginia Department of Health and Human Resources.
Olive Pape, executive director of the Collegiate Recovery Program, said the $40,000 grant will go a long way to help support students in recovery and provide opportunities to help them thrive during their time at WVU.
The funds will allow more collaboration with Adventure WV, professional development for students and the implementation of “Virtual Serenity Place,” an online platform in response to the COVID-19 pandemic. The online program will begin today (May 26) and will include virtual support group meetings, meditation sessions and a summer conversation series in conjunction with the Carruth Center.
“The state is truly dedicated to supporting recovery-focused efforts on campus and we are excited to continue building our program,” Pape said.
The WVU Collegiate Recovery Program is the first collegiate recovery program in the state.
