Instructors encouraged to take the pulse of their students

National Match Day

As you wrap up your first week of alternative course delivery, the Faculty Senate Teaching & Assessment Committee encourages you to check in with your students. We understand that this has been a big transition for many and that’s all the more reason to establish a regular touch point with your students.

If you don’t already have an assessment in place, we suggest using WVU Qualtrics , eCampus, or SOLE (survey or anonymous discussion board) to distribute a one-minute paper. Ask your students, "Overall, how did things go with <INSERT YOUR CLASS TITLE> during the week of March 30th ? What worked? What was challenging? Please provide specific examples."

You can sample their responses and decide what to comment or act on. By allowing students to reflect on the previous week, you are providing them with an opportunity to be heard during these uncharted times. The feedback will be of value to both you and your students.
