West VirginiaUniversity’s Personal Rapid Transit system will remain closed between the Beechurst and Engineering stations Wednesday (Feb. 12) as an assessment of the hillside and surrounding area continues following Monday’s rock slide incident.
The PRT will operate during normal hours (6:30 a.m. to 10:15 p.m.). Vehicles will circulate between the Walnut and Beechurst stations and will operate on demand mode — which allows passengers to travel directly to their destination without stopping at other stations — between the Engineering, Towers and HSC stations.
Buses will operate on a continuous loop from 6:30 a.m. to 10:15 p.m. to accommodate passengers wishing to travel between Beechurst and Engineering. Each loop will take approximately 15 to 20 minutes. Pick-up locations for buses will be at the Life Sciences Building and Evansdale Crossing.
Attendees of the WVU men’s basketball game vs. Kansas should use the PRT and provided buses when traveling to the Coliseum. Similarly, attendees of the RENT production at the Creative Arts Center should use these transportation options when traveling to the event.
Evansdale parking will be limited throughout Wednesday.
The WVU Athletics Department will close the Coliseum lot ahead of the game. Parking along Monongahela Boulevard will continue to be restricted, and parking at Area 45 at the Creative Arts Center will be limited to RENT attendees.
For additional Evansdale parking options, visit the WVU Transportation and Parking website.
As always, Mountain Line bus service is available, and students, faculty and staff ride free with a WVU ID.
