Beginning today (July 18), a portion of University Avenue near the Downtown area of campus will be closed while Morgantown Utility Board crews repair an area affected by a sinkhole.
The roadway is closed from Falling Run Road to Campus Drive. Sidewalks along this portion of the road are also closed.
Parking lot ST-10 at Falling Run Road will remain open and can continue to be accessed off Falling Run Road. However, the exit for this lot along University Avenue will be closed during this time.
Drivers who park in Area 5 near Field Hall are permitted to access the lot from Campus Drive through a gap in the road closure signs. If it is more convenient, Area 5 permit holders may also park in ST-10 while displaying their Area 5 permit.
Drivers traveling from University Avenue to Falling Run Road may proceed normally in both directions.
The Morgantown Utility Board expects to complete this repair work by Aug. 1, but unexpected circumstances or weather may alter this timeline.
