Portion of North High Street to close, traffic changes planned

A street closure sign and two cones are shown at the end of a road that is shut down with construction equipment in the middle of it in the background.

As part of the Morgantown Utility Board’s continued work on North High Street, the roadway will be closed from the intersection at Prospect Street to Maiden Lane beginning today (July 21).

Drivers are asked to avoid this area and take alternative routes when traveling.

Because this road closure will restrict vehicle access to the portion of Prospect Street along Clark Hall, this section of the roadway will temporarily become a two-way street to accommodate drivers who park on the bottom floor of the Mountainlair garage, Area 9, and at Stewart Hall, Areas 23 and 25, as well as drivers accessing the Mountainlair loading dock.

This change will allow drivers to enter and exit Prospect Street from University Avenue.

Signs will be placed along University Avenue to guide the detour, and cones will be placed along the centerline of Prospect Street to accommodate the two lanes.

We do not yet know the expected completion date.

This schedule is subject to change due to weather conditions and other unavoidable circumstances.

We appreciate your patience and understanding.
