The Teaching and Learning Commons is hosting a workshop titled “The West Virginia Green Zone: Conversations on what it means to be ‘Veteran Friendly.’” Thomas Sura, assistant professor of English, will present the workshop will be offered Aug. 30, from noon to 1:30 p.m. in the Laurel Room of the Mountainlair.

The Art Museum of West Virginia University will celebrate its third birthday with activities for the whole family from 12:30 p.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday (Aug. 25).
If you are an existing WVU faculty or staff member who wants to experience the same New Mountaineer Onboarding experience as a new hire, now is your chance.
The eight events of the series, which will take place at venues across Morgantown, will represent a wide variety of disciplines. This year, the WVU Humanities Center chose the theme “Quality of Life” to explore cultural objects and moments that lend themselves to richer understandings of our world and ways of living in it.
This training is required annually by the WV Department of Environmental Protection for any person (paid employee or not) who handles chemicals and/or unwanted material in a laboratory and may include, but is not limited to faculty, staff, post-doctoral fellows, interns, researchers, technicians, supervisors/managers and principal investigators who work unsupervised.
All graduate students and their families are invited to attend the Graduate Student Welcome Picnic held Friday (Aug. 17) from 3 to 5 p.m. at the Mountainlair Plaza (Rain location: Mountainlair Ballrooms) for food, giveaways and a fun time.
