Join the WVU Press for a moderated conversation with author Matthew Ferrence and political candidate Kate Barr as they share the story of two regular citizens challenging entrenched systems — each in a different way — with the hope of an unlikely outcome from 7-8 p.m. Monday (Oct. 28) on Zoom.

Instructors who wish to remain or become early adopters of eCampus Ultra (WVU login required) for the Spring 2025 semester can request an Ultra production shell until Nov. 1. After that date, requests cannot be processed for Spring 2025.

In 2004, WVU afforded Jake Stump a self-fulfilling opportunity. It sent a rural, Preston County boy — who’d never ventured outside the continental United States — to a land 9,000 miles across the Pacific Ocean. That land was Vietnam, a place where his father, an Air Force veteran, met his mother, a country native, during the Vietnam War.
