Five professors who have developed innovative courses for students in the Honors College will give public lectures based on their courses this fall. These Honors College Faculty Fellows were selected for their passion for teaching and their special topic “big idea” courses designed to engage students in the Honors Foundations program.

Community Choir  

Stop in to sing with the West Virginia Community Choir during our Fall Term starting Aug. 26 at 7 p.m. at the WVU Creative Arts Center. The first-day trial — with light refreshments — is free, and offers a great opportunity to warm up your vocal cords and experience the camaraderie of singing with others.

Mountaineertopia  

Mountaineertopia, an interactive event slated for Saturday (Aug. 24) from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Student Recreation Center, will showcase the latest products and services available in the Morgantown community.

Welcome Back BBQ  

Join us at the Center for Black Culture & Research, 590 Spruce St., Thursday (Aug. 22) from noon to 3 p.m. for our annual Belmear Welcome Back BBQ, which is free to WVU students, faculty and staff.

WVU Community Music Program  

Registration is currently underway for group classes, private instruction and participation in several large ensembles. Enroll in piano, violin, guitar or lessons in virtually any instrument or voice. Develop your artistic expression and musical skills. Lessons and classes are about to begin.

Appalachian Futures  

“Appalachian Futures,” Libraries’ new year-long exhibition, addresses the current dominant narratives about Appalachia in a new way, by looking at how the people of Appalachia have worked and will work to rewrite their own story.
