The celebration will be held from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. tomorrow (Oct. 18) outside the Mountainlair as WVU gets ready to take on Kansas State in the Homecoming game at 7:30 p.m. Saturday (Oct. 19) at Milan Puskar Stadium.

The one-mile walk/run will start at 9:30 a.m. and the 5K run at 10 a.m. Sunday (Oct. 20) at the Student Rec Center. Costumes are encouraged for both race participants and spectators. Well-behaved dogs are welcome to join their humans.

The WVU Brad and Alys Smith Outdoor Economic Development Collaborative has secured a $1,232,256 grant from the Appalachian Regional Commission with an additional $536,155 in match from local partners — totaling $1,768,411. The funding will be used to launch the West Virginia Community-driven Outdoor Recreation Economies Initiative, a strategic suite of programs designed to expand the state’s outdoor recreation economy and strengthen its local communities.
