Winter weather preparedness steps announced for campus facilities

As we begin experiencing colder weather, the WVU Facilities Management team asks for your cooperation in monitoring and preparing campus buildings for freezing temperatures.

If you experience cold temperatures in residence halls, University Apartments or Health Sciences, please submit a service request online. If you experience cold temperatures in Downtown or Evansdale campus buildings, contact the Facilities Management helpline at 304-293-4357 so we can investigate the issue.

You can also do your part by keeping doors and windows shut when outside temperatures reach freezing levels. Exposure to freezing temperatures can potentially cause a building’s pipes to rupture, causing water damage to the building and equipment.

Exterior doors should not be propped open in this weather. When leaving a room, make sure all windows and exterior doors are closed.

We appreciate your help in keeping our campus buildings safe and functioning properly.
