WVU is lessening some restrictions around mask wearing and out-of-state travel for people who have been fully vaccinated against COVID-19 and verified their vaccinations with the University. Fully-vaccinated people will not be required to wear a mask in outdoor settings on West Virginia University campuses. Individuals are considered fully vaccinated two weeks after one dose of Johnson & Johnson or two doses of Pfizer and Moderna vaccines.

WVU has been made aware of a recent rise in fraudulent unemployment claims among faculty and staff. This issue is not related to anything that has happened at the University. However, cases of identity theft leading to fraudulent unemployment claims continue to surge across the state and throughout the U.S.

Four West Virginia University women have been awarded the Critical Language Scholarship from the U.S. Department of State, recognizing their commitment to language learning and personal growth. The awardees will participate in fully-funded virtual intensive language and cultural immersion programs this summer.
In conjunction with the WVU Foundation, the Pride of West Virginia has launched a crowdfunding campaign to create the WVU Feature Twirler Scholarship Fund. The campaign kicks off as the band selects its Feature Twirlers for the 2021 season.
Preparations are underway at West Virginia University for a full reopening of Dining Services in time for the start of the fall semester on Aug. 18. Members of WVU’s Board of Governors approved several projects designed to enhance the dining experience for the campus community during a special meeting on Thursday (May 20) clearing the way for construction through the summer months.
