Mark your calendars and plan to join us for a luncheon and presentation about how organizations can inspire people to transform their communities Nov.13 from 11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at the WVU Media Innovation Center. Marly Leighton, Chief of Staff at DoSomething.org, the largest nonprofit organization for young people and social change, will share how it is possible to create real community impacts through a digital platform.

Kathy Mattea  

Kathy Mattea has been named a Distinguished Artist in Residence in the School of Music for the 2019-20 academic year. Her first residency of the year will take place Oct. 29-31. It will culminate in a public masterclass with voice students to be held in the University’s Museum Education Center on Oct. 31 from 4-6 p.m. The event is free and open to the public, but seating is limited.

NY Brass Arts Trio  

The New York Brass Arts Trio will visit WVU Tuesday (Oct. 29) at 7:30 p.m. in the Lyell B. Clay Concert Theatre of the Creative Arts Center as part of the College of Creative Arts Curiosity Series and Canady Series. Tickets can be purchased at WVU Box Offices or by visiting ticketmaster.com. Senior, student and child discounts are available.

It’s no secret that West Virginia currently ranks as one of the highest states for obesity prevalence. Partners from multiple organizations around the state, including faculty and staff from West Virginia University, believe that a key component to tackling this problem is to empower communities to take charge of their health – thus forming Take Back Our Health WV.

Roger G. Hanshaw, speaker of the West Virginia House of Delegates, will deliver the Presidential Augusta Ambassadors Lecture Oct. 29 at 10:30 a.m. in the Marlyn E. Lugar Courtroom at the College of Law.
