Nominations are being accepted for the second annual David H. Wilks Memorial Award for Excellence in Simulation. This award is given in honor of the late Dr. Wilks, who led the foundation of STEPS — Simulation Training and Education for Patient Safety — at WVU Health Sciences.

A Thursday (July 21) event is being planned to officially open new space that will provide speech-language pathology students and audiology students with the most up-to-date advancements in clinical learning. The event at the WVU Health and Education Building on the Evansdale Campus will include a tour as well as clinical demonstrations from students and faculty.
Dr. Dhairya A. Lakhani conducted the work for which the award was given during an away rotation at Mayo Clinic in Florida under the mentorship of Dr. Erik H Middlebrooks.
Ranjita Misra has been appointed the director of the School of Public Health’s Ph.D. program and Alfgeir Kristjansson has assumed the role of co-principal investigator for the West Virginia Prevention Research Center.
