WVU diagnostic radiology chief resident wins the John L. Ulmer Translational Trainee Award for Parkinson’s disease research using neuromelanin imaging

Dr Lakhani

Dr. Dhairya A. Lakhani conducted the work for which the award was given during an away rotation at Mayo Clinic in Florida under the mentorship of Dr. Erik H Middlebrooks.

The prize is $1,000. Dr. Lakhani will also be invited to present his research at the 15th American Society of Functional Neuroradiology meeting which will be held August 27-30, 2022 in Maui, Hawaii.

The ASFNR John L. Ulmer Translational Trainee Award was created to honor the memory of John L. Ulmer. Dr. Ulmer, a radiology professor and chief of neuroradiology at the Medical College of Wisconsin and a past president of the ASFNR, was a physician-scientist with a passion for education and clinical translation of advanced neuroimaging techniques to clinical practice.

As such, the ASFNR John L. Ulmer Award is meant for a trainee (neuroradiology fellow, radiology or nuclear medicine resident, medical student, graduate student or undergraduate student) and to reward a research project that will contribute to the clinical translation of advanced neuroimaging techniques.
