Nominations are being accepted for the second annual David H. Wilks Memorial Award for Excellence in Simulation. This award is given in honor of the late Dr. Wilks, who led the foundation of STEPS — Simulation Training and Education for Patient Safety — at WVU Health Sciences.
To help introduce incoming sixth, seventh and eighth graders to the profession of nursing, the WVU School of Nursing Keyser Campus will host a Nursing Academy for Mineral County students. Offered in collaboration with WVU Potomac State College and WVU Medicine Potomac Valley Hospital, the free academy will be held Aug. 1-3 at the School of Nursing Keyser Campus.
Dr. Kathryn Moffett has been named assistant dean for School of Medicine Academic Personnel and Faculty Services, effective July 1. This new role will work under the mentorship of the associate dean for Faculty Affairs and the associate vice president for Academic Affairs.
WVU School of Nursing student Tanner Colley had an unforgettable experience while working her June 4 shift as an EMT with Ambulance and Chair Emergency Medical Services located in Washington County, Pennsylvania. A patient gave birth to a healthy baby boy in the back of the ambulance while Colley helped transport her to the hospital.
Dr. Brian Kellermeyer, WVU Medicine otolaryngologist, was the first in the state to implant a BONEBRIDGE bone conductive implant. The surgery was performed in early May, and the implant was successfully activated at a follow-up appointment this month.
