Lacy Rucker  

WVU researchers Donald Brown and James Thompson with the Davis College of Agriculture, Natural Resources and Design are working toward restoring some of the original tree habitat by studying the long-term effects of warming temperatures on red spruce and the creatures that call that ecosystem home.  

Ruby Fellows 2022  

Driven by a shared passion for scientific discovery, four promising researchers pursuing doctoral degrees at WVU are receiving funding from the Ruby Scholars Graduate Fellows Program to support their studies. Each student will receive a $34,000 stipend, a $2,000 travel grant and tuition waiver to allow them to continue their research at WVU.

In a paper published in Group and Organization Management, Kayla Follmer, organizational psychologist and researcher, details the newest round of findings from her study of 279 U.S. adults who have a professional diagnosis of depression or bipolar disorder and are employed at least 20 hours per week. Her research shows one reason employees may engage in deviant workplace behaviors is the fear of being discriminated against on the job.

Michelle Gross  

A West Virginia University student pharmacist is one of 29 college students in the country to receive an award for her research. The American Foundation for Pharmaceutical Education presented Michelle Grose, a third-year student at the WVU School of Pharmacy, with the Gateway to Research Award.

Peter Giacobbi  

Peter Giacobbi, professor in the College of Applied Human Sciences and a member of the School of Public Health, is collaborating with research colleagues from the University of Arizona, the Roswell Park Comprehensive Cancer Center in Buffalo, New York, and West Virginia’s First Choice Services to launch the Be Smoke Free project.
