Kevin Daly, biology professor at WVU, is studying how the brain coordinates movement and sensory function in animals, which may lead to a better understanding of how the different senses — sight, touch, smell, etc. — are integrated by the nervous system in humans.

Brent Murry, assistant professor of aquatic ecology in the Davis College, and the U.S. Geological Survey’s Eastern Ecological Science Center hope to uncover information on blotchy bass syndrome, a condition characterized by distinct areas of hyperpigmentation — or black ink-like spots on the skin — in black bass populations.

Gender-diverse youth are at an increased risk of suicide and depression, according to the CDC. But the prevalence of gender diversity is largely unknown — especially in rural areas. To fill that knowledge gap, researchers at WVU and their colleagues elsewhere surveyed junior high and high school students in rural Appalachia about their gender identity.
Marian “Marnie” Reven, an assistant professor in the Adult Health Department of the WVU School of Nursing, was recently awarded the Rosenthal Riter Scholarship from the West Virginia Nurses Association to support her aromatherapy research.
We are seeking groups of three adults to participate in a research study to examine an intervention to increase physical activity in adults who are currently physically inactive. Participants must wear a Fitbit for at least 15 weeks and attend two 30-minute sessions in the Life Sciences Building. Participants will be eligible to receive monetary incentives.
