Junior Firefighter Camp  

After a two-year hiatus due to the pandemic, WVU Extension is excited to announce the return of Junior Firefighter Camp. Scheduled for Saturday, June 18 through Thursday, June 23 at the State Fire Academy at WVU Jackson’s Mill in Weston, this camp prepares the next generation of firefighters and emergency operations personnel by placing youths in the heart of the action. The deadline to register is Friday, June 3.

In partnership with the West Virginia Governor’s Highway Safety Program and police departments across the state, University Police encourages drivers and passengers to wear a seat belt at all times when in a motor vehicle. According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, more than 10,000 unbuckled drivers and passengers were killed in crashes across the country in 2020.

The Upward Bound program has announced its sponsorship of the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s federally funded Summer Food Service Program for its 2022 summer program. UB will receive reimbursement from the USDA for meals served to income-eligible students enrolled in the camp.

Summer Academies  

Open to students of all levels of theatre experience, the WVU School of Theatre and Dance Summer Academies consist of three one-week professional training programs in acting, dance and cosplay. The academies provide quality training for the beginning actor, dancer, puppeteer and costume designer (cosplay fan) as well as advanced level study for students with previous experience.

Ty Flynn  

Ty Flynn, a senior in the WVU School of Nursing, has been appointed as director for WVU’s Camp Kesem, an on-campus student organization that works with the National Kesem mission of being a child’s friend through and beyond their parent or guardian’s cancer.
