The Upward Bound program has announced its sponsorship of the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s federally funded Summer Food Service Program for its 2022 summer program.
UB will receive reimbursement from the USDA for meals served to income-eligible students enrolled in the camp. Approximately 40 high school students will attend the summer program located on the WVU campus from June 13-17. Students will eat breakfast, lunch and dinner at Café Evansdale from Monday-Friday, with one Sunday food service during the duration of the summer program.
A federally-funded TRIO program, UB is designed to help high school students overcome barriers to post-secondary education. WVU UB serves 60 students in 9th through 12th grades from Grafton and Preston high schools. The summer program is designed to orient students to college life and to help them develop the skills and motivation necessary to be successful in high school and in college.
