Encourage your students to apply to teach youth ages 12-18 fun, hands-on STEM lessons connected to adventure sports at the 2026 National Scout Jamboree from July 19-31 at Summit Bechtel Reserve in Glen Jean.
WVU students who enjoy working with youth, being outside and/or teaching should sign up to volunteer.
Volunteers will join Science Behind the Sport to teach Scouts the science behind the five activities of cycling, paddling, climbing, skateboarding and archery.
They will also learn how understanding projectile motion can improve their aim at archery and how their center of gravity helps them balance while paddling.
Perks available to volunteers include the following:
Free admission to the Jamboree.
$500 scholarship for the Fall 2026 semester.
50 registered community service hours.
All meals, housing and transportation will be provided.
A complimentary WVU swag package, shirts and more.
Spend evenings free to participate in Jamboree activities. We’ll also host evening activities for volunteers, like games and ice cream parties
Current and former Scouts are welcome, but no previous experience is necessary. Volunteers do not need to be an expert at adventure sports or STEM, we’ll teach them everything they need to know.
Those interested in volunteering should complete this brief survey.
Note that while we hope that each volunteer can work the full 10 days, please still reach out if you have a small scheduling conflict.
