West Virginia University Police issued a Community Notice on Wednesday (Nov. 20) after a student was cited for illegal fireworks usage in the cooperative zone near the Downtown area of campus.

Student Rec Center  

The Winter Wellness program will provide employees and their immediate families, University affiliates and alumni free access to the Student Rec Center from Thursday, Jan. 2, through Saturday, Jan. 11. Participants can enjoy the pool, weight room, cardio equipment, group fitness classes and more.

Mountainlair  

The ITS Service Center at the Mountainlair will be closed Nov. 25-26. Mountaineer Card and other technology-related requests can be addressed at the Towers ITS Service Center in G-118 of Bennett Tower or the Health Sciences Service Center at G101 North during regular business hours of 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

Campus Woodburn Hall  

Earlier this year, the U.S. Department of Labor announced changes to the Fair Labor Standards Act, increasing the salary threshold for exempt employees (those not eligible for overtime). A second change was expected to take effect on Jan. 1, 2025, which would have further increased the minimum salary threshold. On Friday (Nov. 15), a federal judge in the Eastern District Court of Texas struck down the additional changes to the FLSA rule. As such, the second round of changes will no longer be implemented.
