Employees encouraged to consider Erickson Alumni Center for their next meeting or event

Erickson Alumni Center

As part of efforts to promote an enhanced in-person or hybrid meeting and event experiences for West Virginia University faculty and staff as well as outside guests, The Erickson Alumni Center recently completed several technology updates:

  • Ruby Grand Hall – This space, which can accommodate up to 450 participants, also can be separated into three smaller salons. The room’s prior LCD ceiling projectors have been replaced with high-definition laser projectors, which have improved image quality by 50%. The space also has been outfitted with enhanced audio reinforcement, including an upgraded public address system and 24 new gooseneck microphones.

Ruby Grand Hall also now offers a digital server that delivers better overall sound quality and clarity for event recordings as well as an enhanced experience for remote attendees during hybrid meetings and events.

  • Barnette Board of Governor's Room – This space is composed of two smaller adjoining rooms that can accommodate up to 75 people when combined. The space offers two podiums with gooseneck microphones as well as door sensors that automatically detect whether the door is open or closed and routes the room’s audio/video accordingly.

Each room can host video and web conferencing across a variety of platforms (e.g., Zoom, Microsoft Teams, WebEx, etc.), and all technology is controlled by two 10-inch touch panels. Further, both rooms have two 90-inch high-definition displays and offer “voice lift” technology to amplify the voices of in-person participants so attendees are heard clearly via distributed audio in the room’s ceiling.

  • Charles F. Erickson Board Room – This space can accommodate up to 23 participants and provides two 86-inch displays for presentations (one in the front of the room and one on the side wall). 36 mutable, cardioid microphones, which can be used for audio conferencing, are embedded within the room’s conference table.

The room offers a podium with an HDMI laptop connection and a gooseneck microphone, a USB charging port at each seat and an in-ceiling speaker system. Two additional HDMI laptop connections are available at opposite ends of the conference table. All technology in the room is controlled by a single 10-inch touch panel.
