Ray LaMontagne

Grammy Award-winning singer/songwriter Ray LaMontagne is set to embark on his first acoustic tour in five years. The Just Passing Through tour includes 25 dates and will stop at the WVU Creative Arts Center Monday, Oct. 30. Tickets go on sale Friday (Aug. 4) at 10 a.m. at the Mountainlair and CAC box offices, online at Ticketmaster.com, and by phone at 304.293.7469 and 800.745.3000.

LaMontagne will be highlighting songs from his vast and varying body of work. He will be joined by Wilco’s John Stirratt on acoustic bass and the duo will be playing songs spanning all six of LaMontagne’s studio albums: “Trouble,” “Till the Sun Turns Black,” “Gossip in the Grain,” “God Willin’ & the Creek Don’t Rise,” “Supernova” and “Ouroboros.”

Critics raved about LaMontagne’s last acoustic tour. “Hearing Ray LaMontagne perform live is a poignant and magical experience,” said online music publication Consequence of Sound. The Boston Herald added, “LaMontagne’s voice remains a marvel, quiet and reflective one minute and forceful and impassioned the next. It really is an amazing instrument.”

Five of LaMontagne’s albums reached the Top 10 on Billboard’s Top Rock and Digital albums charts. “God Willin’ & the Creek Don’t Rise” earned a Grammy Award for Best Folk Album and yielded the single “Beg Steal or Borrow” which was nominated for the coveted Song of the Year by the Recording Academy.
