The concert will feature special lighting and effects, with ensembles performing in a “prism” style and staged in various locations around the theatre at 7:30 p.m. Thursday (Oct. 30) in the Canady Creative Arts Center, Lyell B. Clay Concert Theatre.

The Honors College will host a series of events centered around this year’s Campus Read, “James” by Percival Everett, a retelling of Mark Twain’s classic 1884 novel “Adventures of Huckleberry Finn.”
The two-part workshop, led by Omar Al-Shebeeb, will introduce faculty and instructors to practical tools and methods for building a virtual makerspace that complements classroom learning and physical labs. The sessions draw on the proposal “Collaborative Makerspace-to-Classroom and Manufacturing Integration: Low-Cost Virtual Learning and Production Labs.”
The annual Homecoming Parade, scheduled to begin at 6 p.m. tonight (Oct. 24) on High Street, will feature Dr. Clay Marsh, chancellor and executive dean for WVU Health Sciences, as the grand marshal, along with the other recipients of the 2025 Homecoming and Alumni Service Awards. Following the parade, the men’s and women’s basketball teams will kick off the 2025-26 season with “Ballin’ at Woodburn” in Woodburn Circle.
“Hope, Hopelessness and the Meaning of Life,” led by David Cerbone, chair of the Department of Philosophy, and Sharon Ryan, director of the Humanities Center, is slated for 4 p.m. Tuesday (Oct. 28) in the Downtown Library Complex, Robinson Reading Room.
The Office of Compliance and Prevention Education in collaboration with UPD is sponsoring a hands-on self-defense session from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Nov. 5 in the Evansdale Residential Complex Blue and Gold Rooms.
