Christopher Fowler, a physics and astronomy researcher, was recently selected as one of only five early career scientists to receive the NASA 2023 Planetary Science Early Career Award for his project “Bringing Planetary Science to West Virginia.”

Duncan Lorimer, professor of physics and astronomy in the Eberly College of Arts and Sciences, has been selected as a 2024 Fellow of the Royal Society of London for his contributions to pulsar astrophysics and his role in the discovery of fast radio bursts. This honor has been described as “the scientific equivalent of a lifetime achievement Oscar.”
An open house will be held to recognize the advancements and achievements made because of clinical trials research and the tireless work of clinical research professionals from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. today (May 20) at the Health Sciences Center, Room G285B.
In 2016, elk were reintroduced to West Virginia from existing populations in Kentucky and Arizona. To try to improve the odds of reintroduction success, researchers Amy Welsh and Adam Cook will study the genetic diversity of both groups.
The School of Medicine’s annual Eastern Campus Research Symposium provides students and residents with a platform to conduct vital clinical research while building their investigative and presentation skills. This year’s symposium featured more than 30 presentations from students, residents and faculty members.
The first three modules of the new WVU Research Administration Portal — Grants, Agreements and Conflict of Interest — are expected to go live in January 2025. These modules are integrated to help decrease duplicative data entry, expedite approval time and improve transparency of submission status.
