Matthew Gonzalez’s journey into the field of sport psychology began serendipitously with an encouraging push from a mentor at San Jose State University. This initial nudge sparked a passion for applied mental performance work and led him to one of the premier programs in the country at WVU.

The newest single from regional artist Lauren Winans — “Meet Up Spot” — is now available on all streaming platforms. It is the third single from her EP “The Truth Will Set You Free,” a collaboration between Winans and the University’s Music Business and Industry Program.

Richard Catlett  

Future medical professionals studying at the School of Medicine’s Eastern Campus will benefit from a faculty member’s $50,000 gift. The gift from Dr. Richard H. Catlett III establishes a namesake fund that provides awards to deserving medical students within the Department of Internal Medicine.

Literacy Education Fellows  

University officials, including President Gordon Gee, joined representatives from Kanawha County Schools Friday (July 26) to recognize 50 teachers who applied and were selected for a master’s degree program in Literacy Education with a Reading Specialist certification. This online program, including books, will be paid for by Kanawha County Schools.

Tyler Blizzard, a Ridgeley native majoring in physics and aerospace engineering at WVU Potomac State College, was recognized with the Keyser Rotary Club Service Above Self award.
