The School of Medicine Department of Obstetrics, Gynecology and Reproductive Sciences has named Dr. Brian Casey as the new department chair, effective March 29. Casey joins WVU from the University of Alabama at Birmingham.

High school students ages 16-18 will have the opportunity to gain hands-on experience in various medical departments in June. Applications are due Jan. 31.
Two new School of Medicine departments — the Department of Hematology and Oncology and the Department of Cancer Prevention and Control — will focus on cancer causes and risk factors, treatment, community engagement and outreach, rural health, and cancer health communications, outcomes and survivorship.
Dannell D. Boatman will present "Using Audience Segmentation to Enhance Health Messaging and Support Research Dissemination” on Jan. 26, and Nichole Michaels will present "Integrating Overdose Harm Reduction into Drug Courts” on Feb. 23.
A first in-human study at the WVU Rockefeller Neuroscience Institute demonstrates the benefits of combining focused ultrasound with antibody treatment to reduce brain amyloid plaques in patients with Alzheimer’s disease. The study is featured in the latest issue of the New England Journal of Medicine.
To help families in need during the holidays and the winter season, the School of Nursing and WVU Extension hosted donation drives for Noah’s Ark Baby Pantry in McDowell County.
