West Virginia University’s Bureau of Business and Economic Research will kick off its fall Economic Outlook Series in early October, the first of five events that will run through mid-November. The BBER, which is housed in the WVU College of Business and Economics, will present its West Virginia Economic Outlook 2019-2023 statewide economic analysis and forecast Oct. 3 at Embassy Suites in Charleston. The event will be held from 7:30 a.m. to noon, and will include economic outlooks from the state and national perspectives.

Alumna Holly Pettus (BS Geology, 2018) is among 15 undergraduate students from universities across the nation to be recognized for her outstanding research with the 2018 GeoCUR Award for Excellence in Student Research. Her research focused on investigating the origin of potassium feldspar (K-feldspar) megacrysts from a small granitoid intrusion in western Nevada.

Two West Virginia University School of Medicine researchers have received $2.38 million from the National Institutes of Health to build a one-of-a-kind pre-clinical imaging system that integrates PET-scan technology with a magnet-based imaging system that’s akin to MRI.
