The Center for Innovation for Gas Research and Utilization at West Virginia University has assembled an expert panel to discuss how the state can harness the current surge in natural gas production from the Marcellus and Utica plays, using the latest developments in natural gas utilization for long-term prosperity. The free event will be held at the Erickson Alumni Center on Tuesday, Dec. 4 from 4:30-7:30 p.m. The university community and public are invited.

Investigators at the West Virginia University Rockefeller Neuroscience Institute recently performed the first procedure in the world of a phase II trial using focused ultrasound to treat a patient with early stage Alzheimer’s. Dr. Ali Rezai, who led the team, talks with Inside WVU today’s April Kaull about the groundbreaking procedure and the potential it may have to change lives.

Richard Goldberg, who directs the West Virginia University Cancer Institute, is searching for new ways to slow colorectal cancer’s progression. In a recent study, he and an international team of scientists investigated a new drug combination for treating metastatic colorectal cancer in patients who had no—or only temporary—success with conventional chemotherapy treatments.
