A major public health initiative aimed at preventing cervical cancer in at-risk Appalachian families from West Virginia, Ohio, Kentucky, and Virginia is underway with support from an $11 million National Cancer Institute grant.

For many women with a current or previous eating disorder, pregnancy can sometimes exacerbate their unhealthy relationship with food. A web-based resource inspired through a recent qualitative study conducted by Assistant Professor Elizabeth Claydon at the WVU School of Public Health is now available to patients and their clinicians and loved ones navigate this complex issue.

School of Pharmacy graduate student Xiaohui Zhao was a standout at the International Society for Pharmacoeconomics and Outcomes Research conference in New Orleans. Zhao’s research poster and podium presentation were one of 18 selected out of 145 for the ISPOR 2019 Research Presentation Award.

College students from across the U.S. will visit West Virginia University this summer for their first research experiences. WVU’s Department of Psychology will host seven undergraduate students for intensive, eight-week research projects. The students will be on campus June 3-July 26 conducting independent studies under the guidance of faculty mentors.
