Each spring, West Virginia University recognizes selected faculty members for their exceptional and innovative teaching. This year, the 2025 WVU Foundation Awards for Outstanding Teaching honor Thomas Devine and Vicki Sealey.

Ten doctoral students will compete at 6 p.m. tomorrow (April 10) in the Mountainlair Ballrooms as faculty and staff members judge for first, second and third place winners. The WVU community is also invited to attend and vote for the People’s Choice Award.
“This Book Is Free and Yours to Keep: Notes from the Appalachian Prison Book Project,” which highlights the crucial work done by the Appalachian Prison Book Project and was published by the WVU Press, was recently selected by the Appalachian Studies Association for the 2024 Weatherford Award in Nonfiction.

Edward Brzostek, associate professor of biology in the Eberly College of Arts and Sciences, has been named the Benedum Distinguished Scholar in recognition of the high caliber of his research and scholarly activity in the category of biosciences and health sciences.
