The Institute for Community and Rural Health is hosting an information fair Feb. 5 in the Pylons Lobby at the WVU Health Sciences Center from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. There will be a full range of opportunities for undergraduate and graduate health professions students interested in practicing in rural and under-served areas to explore.
An Evening of Science, set for Wednesday (Jan. 29), will feature the topic "Programmatic Strategy Focused on Toxicology — Addressing Health Challenges in Appalachia." The event will be held from 4 to 6 p.m. at Evansdale Crossing, 4th Floor.
WVU Dental Care will celebrate National Children’s Dental Health Month by offering free screenings, fluoride treatments, dental radiographs if indicated, and oral health education to children ages one to 17 from 9 a.m. to 4:45 p.m. on Friday, Feb. 7 in the WVU Pediatric Dentistry Clinic. Appointments are required, and space is limited.
This year, 71 students from across the state were accepted into the Rural Community Health Scholars program. During the second week of January, three School of Pharmacy scholars and a PhD student from the School of Public Health were among a group who attended a three-day immersion training to learn about chronic disease management in rural communities.
Dr. Ramesh Daggubati has joined the WVU Heart and Vascular Institute as the associate chief of Cardiology and the director of the Structural Heart Disease Program.
