Katie Stores will expand her leadership duties at West Virginia University as the new director of the Office of Sponsored Programs in late November. Stores, who will continue as assistant vice president for research administration at the WVU Research Office, succeeds John Childress, who retires Nov. 26.

The human papilloma virus turns healthy cells into “zombies” and controls how frequently they reproduce, according to West Virginia University researcher Ivan Martinez. Those changes in cell division can lead to cancer in women and—unbeknownst to many—men.
The WVU Cancer Institute is sponsoring the second Annual WVUCI Scientific Meeting Nov. 22 at the Erickson Alumni Center.
